Transcript of the video edition
Two Dan Sullivans are on Alaska’s Senate ballot. Friday, the Justice Department asked a judge to set aside ballots ranking the second one. Why?
The New York Times, citing twelve people and texts, reported Mary Peltola’s campaign helped recruit him to pull votes from the Republican senator. No one has been charged.
Federal prosecutors sent at least three dozen subpoenas and preservation requests. Alaska’s governor ordered a state probe.
Peltola denies any role. The second Sullivan says he ran on his own. Peltola’s former campaign manager, cited in the report, has retracted.
Why set them aside? Prosecutors say to check for confusion. Alaska and a law professor doubt a ballot can show that.
