Transcript of the video edition

France has banned protests in several of its biggest cities this weekend. After days of unrest, here’s what’s happening.

Protesters are angry about budget cuts and the high cost of living. Authorities in Paris, Lyon and Marseille banned planned protests, and set curfews at night.

The justice minister says there have been about twenty-seven hundred arrests since last Saturday. The Louvre and other museums are closed this weekend, and an art fair in Paris shut down.

President Macron blames far-left groups. Unions say they will march on alternate routes. Watch what happens this Saturday, and whether the bans hold.
