What are the midterms, and why should you care? Here is the quick version.
A midterm election happens halfway through a president’s four-year term. This year it is Tuesday, November third.
Every seat in the House of Representatives is on the ballot. That is four hundred thirty-five seats. House members serve two-year terms.
Why does it matter? Congress writes the spending bills, runs investigations, and in the Senate, confirms judges and top officials. Whoever controls it sets the agenda.
Voting is already open in many states. Check your state’s election office for dates and rules.
So the question is simple. Will you vote?
