Kellogg Says No Change in Nicaragua Policy; Good Offices Still Offered

The White House and State Department reject reports that the administration has shifted its position.

The United States stands ready to use its good offices to bring about an adjustment of the differences in Nicaragua, as it has from the beginning of the trouble, and no change in policy is contemplated, the White House announced on Monday, the Evening Star reported.

Asked about reports that policy had changed, Secretary of State Kellogg said there had been no change whatever in this government’s policy toward Nicaragua as outlined in the President’s message. The New Britain Herald’s headline, which carried the same denial, added that marines had again stopped a bombardment.
