Copyright complaints

Last revised

The Monochrome Chronicles respects creators’ rights. If you believe material on this site infringes your copyright, you can ask for its removal.

Where to send a notice

Send notices to the editor mailbox shown on the Contact page: editor@monochromechronicles.com. They are read by the publisher, Daniel Varrone.

What a notice should include

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. a description of the copyrighted work you say was infringed;
  3. the exact address (URL) of the material, so it can be found;
  4. your name, address, phone number and email;
  5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner.

Please consider fair use before sending. Knowingly sending a false notice can make you liable for damages.

What the paper does

When a complete notice arrives, the paper will promptly remove or disable access to the material, tell the person responsible, and may pass them your notice. Photos are used under the licenses named in their credits; if you are the author and believe a credit is wrong or a license was not valid, say so and the paper will review it promptly. Incomplete notices may not be acted on.

Counter-notice

If you believe material was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice with:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. identification of the removed material and where it appeared;
  3. a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification;
  4. your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, outside the United States, any district where the publisher can be found) and will accept service from the person who sent the notice.

The counter-notice will be sent to the complainant. Unless they say within 10 to 14 business days that they have filed a court action, the material may be restored.

Repeat infringers

The paper may end access for people who repeatedly infringe. It has no user uploads or comments.
