Ravens Name Undrafted Rookie Joe Fagnano Thursday Starter at QB
Coach Jesse Minter said Fagnano will start against Jacksonville after Lamar Jackson hurt his right thumb and Tyler Huntley was also injured, CBS Sports and ESPN reported.
Baltimore Ravens coach Jesse Minter said undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano will start at quarterback Thursday night when the Ravens host the Jacksonville Jaguars in the opener of Week 9, CBS Sports and ESPN reported. Minter said Fagnano is the starter this week.
Starter Lamar Jackson injured his right thumb in Sunday’s loss at Buffalo, and backup Tyler Huntley was also hurt, according to both outlets. CBS Sports reported that Jackson’s thumb injury required surgery and that Minter said Jackson and Huntley were likely headed to injured reserve. ESPN reported Jackson is going to injured reserve with an injury that may end his season.
Fagnano played in his first NFL game against the Bills and completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with one interception, both outlets reported. ESPN reported only one other undrafted rookie quarterback has started for Baltimore. Fagnano also appeared to hurt his right ankle, CBS Sports reported, and wore a brace at Tuesday’s practice; he said it “feels good.”
Kicker Tyler Loop is also going on injured reserve with a groin injury, ESPN and NBC Sports reported.
